Are the more recent Gebirgsjäger photos you posted originally taken with color film or did you do that with photoshop? Or are they enhanced in photoshop? Either way they look fucking incredible, and if those are originals with no retouching they're absolutely beautiful.
is there any particular website you get your reenactment gear from ?
No sir. Anywhere and everywhere, I don’t usually go for brand new company-bought items. In fact, I have never bought anything directly from such big companies like At The Front, and only once from Hessen Antique. Quality and good deals is what I hunt for, eBay, Reenactor Forums, Private pages with fellow reenactors who sell used gear.
If you’re after anything specific, I can do some hunting for you.
Maybe sometime soon i’ll have enough time on my hands to be able to talk to some of you fine people, it would be nice.. but sleep beckons; only got 2 hours of shut eye last night, and worked 15 today, the fact that I am still conscious is amazing. My bed beckons.
Jetzt zu dieser stund, kommt einfach ohne grund, ein kleiner gruß zur guten nacht, denn ich hab ganz fest an dich gedacht!
“The British realising what was at stake, defended themselves like bulldogs. Suddenly and entirely unexpectedly they penetrated in a powerful counter-attack supported by tanks into the village of Galatas, whoese defences were not ready, and almost succeeded, following behind the tanks and reaching the edge of the village.
A dreadful night-time street battle ensued, which continued undiminished until dawn. At the crack of dawn, Galatas was in the hands of the Gebirgsjäger; the British, aware of the threatening envelopment by the Gruppe Kraku had given up key positions and retreated. The rising sun shone on a gruesome picture of the nocturnal battle. Many brave, death-defying soldiers, friend and foe were lying in the streets, on the heights, and in the gardens. The price of victory was hight but not too high.”—
Gen Julius Ringel’s account of the counter-attack at Galatas, Kreta.
